We are the Gonzalez family, and for over two decades, we’ve been dedicated to serving up a little taste of home to our customers, one taco at a time.
Our Story
Our story began in 2000, when the Gonzalez family started working in taquerias, learning the nuances of the business and refining the art of Mexican street food. After years of hard work and a growing love for the craft, we opened the first Las Trancas taco stand in Waco, Texas, in 2007. From the beginning, our vision was simple: stay true to our roots by using the freshest ingredients, cooking from scratch, and sharing the bold, vibrant flavors that make Mexican food so special.

Quality is the foundation of everything we do at Las Trancas. Owning our own brand has given us the freedom to be highly selective about our ingredients, choosing only the finest meats, produce, and spices. Each taco, burrito, and quesadilla we make is crafted from recipes that have been handed down through generations, bringing you the richness and authenticity of traditional Mexican street food.
Growing with Our Community
The success of our first location set us on a path to grow and serve more of our Texas community. On November 26, 2011, Jose Alberto Gonzalez expanded Las Trancas with a new location in Austin, bringing our signature flavors to one of Texas’s most dynamic cities. now, we’ve opened four locations across Austin and Waco, each one staying true to our commitment to quality, authenticity, and exceptional customer service.
